I admit it. Clearspace won me back. And they did it with a simple tool. They wrote me a letter telling me they treasured my comments and were working hard on making new options available. But don’t take it from me, read the letter:
We’ve definitely heard this type of feedback loud and clear and it’s being addressed in the next Clearspace release. The core issue stemmed from our support for wiki syntax — we had to dumb down all the HTML, which meant losing things like image formatting and layout options. For Clearspace 2.1 we’ve:
* Created a new rich-text editor that works much better (including full Safari support)
* Greatly improved image and video embedding and manipulation (like drag and drop re-sizing)
* There’s now the option directly edit the HTML for advanced users (and it won’t hose your output)Hopefully we can help get your instance upgraded soon!

Jive Software
Matt is the CTO of Jive Software, and a real executive worried about customer satisfaction if he cared to read my post from swamp humid Central America (I am from Panama after all…) I am not only happy to hear from the CTO himself, but also to realize the new version is already in use by Nike, and my mark-up now makes a lot of sense. Not perfect yet, but almost there.
BIG KUDOS to Jive software and its team. A simple letter can make all the difference in the world, even more so than expensive ads or fancy brochures.

Matt’s a great guy and is definitely concerned about our customers feedback… it’s pervasive throughout our entire company actually.
We are very passionate about our product - we use it everyday ourselves of course - and we’re probably the most critical of how it performs.
I’m not sure what I’m allowed to talk about, but I can say that the version of ClearSpace that’s in the works is awesome!

This is a great post! It’s true: simple little things like a letter from a real person - an executive no less - addressing your concerns is priceless when it comes to customer satisfaction. I never saw anything like this from my last employer, that’s for sure.
